Meet The Voyageuses
Each month, Voyageuses highlights a "Creative Traveler" inspired by crafts or cultures from here and elsewhere.
Simone- a Voyageuse in Thailand
Simone is the founder of the jewellery brand Sengfaï. She shares her favourite spots in Thailand, a major source of inspiration for her collections.
1. Why does this country mean so much to you?
Simone: Thailand holds a very special place in my heart. I love the vivid colours of the pagodas, the energy of the markets, the generosity of the street food, the warmth and welcome of the people. I also love the traditional outfits — their elegance and richness of detail. It's a country that echoes my own family story: my husband is Thai and my children share those roots. Every trip there reconnects me to something deeply intimate.
2. Your favourite regions?
Simone: Khao Sok, without a doubt. It's a place that's still unspoiled, far from mass tourism. Between the lush jungle, the limestone cliffs and the emerald lake, time seems to stand still. It has an incredible sense of serenity.
3. Your favourite spots
Simone: The 500 Rai Floating Resort, in the heart of Khao Sok National Park, remains one of my most beautiful memories. Sleeping on the water, waking up surrounded by nature — it's a truly timeless experience.
A street food dinner in Bangkok on Yaowarat Road in Chinatown.
For shopping, the vintage clothing section of the huge Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.
4. A keepsake you treasure
Simone: A yellow jade bracelet bought in a completely unexpected place: a highway rest stop where jade vendors had set up shop. I love these unexpected discoveries. It's often the things found by chance that become the most precious.
5. Your favourite music from this country…
Simone: The song Sabai Sabai by Loso instantly takes me back to my childhood memories. My parents used to play it often, and it's one of those songs that travels through time and stirs up emotion.
