Craving color and faraway places… 🌍
Hello dear fellow Voyageuses and Voyageurs,
I am happy to introduce you this month to a traveler in Africa, the flamboyant Sophie, for whom travel is her daily life… And of course, Christmas gift ideas, addresses and inspirations too.
Portrait of a Voyageuses: Sophie in Africa
Sophie, the creator of the jewelry brand Victoria Beadies , delights me for several reasons: First, because she's a "super chick"! But also because she radiates energy and wears colorful outfits, laughs heartily and dances whenever she feels like it, and creates according to her whims, guided by her passion and her unique sense of patterns and colors, which she has cultivated since childhood and thanks to her many travels around the world. Because yes, Sophie has indeed traveled the world, as she is a flight attendant and takes advantage of her layovers to explore markets and stock up on treasures to create wonders in her workshop once back in Paris: Cuffs made of Indian ribbons and lined with African wax print and iridescent leather, matching earrings , necklaces and long necklaces with vintage beads and ethnic medallions, and much more...
I'm a huge fan of her creations inspired by her travels in Africa, and especially this necklace made of colorful glass beads from Ghana and Ivory Coast, Venetian beads, and vinyl cylinders from Senegal… The perfect accessory to jazz up a sweater in winter, to wear alone or layered. And here they are, exclusively on the Voyageuses website!
Sophie and Africa:
"I deeply love Africa because it is a vast and diverse continent. Each country, each region has its own culture, its own identity, its own contrasts. And yet, everywhere I went, I felt a common thread: a joy of living that manifests itself daily. Despite sometimes difficult conditions, people know how to celebrate the little things, live in the present moment, keep the light within them. This ability to find strength in every moment, to make life shine, is a precious lesson that touches me deeply ."
What are your favorite African countries?
"Senegal touched me with its gentleness and hospitality, Mali with its cultural and spiritual depth, and Ghana with its energy, creativity, and openness. These places have left me with very strong memories and emotions."
Event of the week: Pop-up at Heureux les Curieux
Come and choose your Christmas gifts this week in the Marais, just a stone's throw from Merci:
The Voyageuses collection will be accompanied by all its recent favorites ( Tunisian-Indian slippers , embroidered linen towels , new African beaded necklaces …), but also a selection of very pretty brands: the Peruvian sweaters from Trama , the vintage blouses from My Sunday Morning , the romantic dresses from Jane Gustavsson , the leather clutches from Marie Laurence Stevigny …
And you are also welcome to join us for a drink on Wednesday, December 3rd!
Heureux les Curieux, 23 rue du Pont aux Choux, Paris 3rd from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th December.

My suggestions for the month

The Beau Voyage podcast episode features the inspiring Marie Robert as a guest, who talks about the introspective dimension of travel but also what it brings to young children.
